John Mark Williams
John is our CEO, working closely with our Board and all the members of our team to support us in fulfilling our mission. He has worked in many leadership roles across the world and enjoys supporting other leaders to achieve their best. John did his MBA at Northumbria University, and spends most of his spare time running (slowly), reading, writing, and collecting antique Chinese Government bonds. Yes, really.
John’s motto is “We are what we share”.
Head of Product and Service Delivery
Janet heads up a team that look after the development and delivery of our products and services to all our members and clients.
She holds a degree and postgrad qualifications in management and marketing. She’s passionate about delivering a great customer experience for our members and Corporate clients. Previously Janet has worked in the private sector in production management and customer services but spent most of her career looking after members at another professional body in the housing sector.
Janet loves France and enjoys sampling the food and wine on trips to renovate a small house in the Pyrenees.

Head of Research, Policy and Standards
Joining The Institute of Leadership & Management from the university sector, Kate has appeared on BBC Television, BBC Radio 4, various other radio stations, has a regular column in Dialogue magazine, is a key note speaker at conferences and provides expert commentary on a range of topics arising from the Institute’s research agenda.
Kate’s favourite leisure activities are watching rugby union, walking her Labrador and Beagle and planning trips to Italy.

Head of Brand and Marketing
Jay leads our brand and marketing strategies. Highly experienced in building engaged audiences and developing brands, he previously led his own creative agency and founded a global tech and marketing business, claiming Digital Business of the Year at the National Business Awards, later scaling to become a top-10 'fastest growing tech company' in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100. In addition to his role at The Institute, Jay is a non-executive director for other non-profit organisations and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Head of Finance & Corporate Services
Melanie is a CIMA-qualified Management Accountant currently studying for her ILM Level 5 Coaching and Mentoring qualification. Melanie has worked for the Institute since Nov 2014 having previously worked in the technology industry.
Melanie is an avid scuba diver and snowboarder and is always planning her next trip.
Head of Commercial Development
Joining The Institute of Leadership & Management from the professional body and development sectors, Gaynor has over 20 years’ experience of building relationships, in the UK and internationally, promoting the concept of continuing professional development. A key aspect is raising the profile of ‘leadership’ as a professional skill that can be developed and improved.
Gaynor’s favourite leisure activities include; walking the coastal path of Wales and volunteering at the local community theatre (always behind the scenes though, usually painting them!)
