David Thompson MBE

CEO of Warrington Disability Partnership & Disability Trading Company

David Thompson MBE, is co-founder and CEO of Warrington Disability Partnership & Disability Trading Company, a user-led, voluntary organisation providing services to support mobility and independent living. 
He is also the founder and co-ordinator of Disability Awareness Day (DAD). The event, which promotes a ‘can do’ culture, has raised over £1 million for local charities and has inspired the development of similar events internationally. DAD, in its 27th year, is now the world's largest, voluntary-led, disability event attracting 250 exhibitors and 28,000 visitors annually. 
Dave is dedicated to promoting disability equality. In 2015 he retired from a 20-year career in the NHS, including ten years as the Assistant Director of Inclusion and Partnerships. He is a keynote speaker at conferences across Europe on disability and independent living and has trained over 40,000 people in the public, private and third sectors on inclusivity. 
He helps lead a variety of organisations in Cheshire such as the Foundation for Peace, ELLA Performance Group, Cheshire Police Museum and Warrington Sea Cadets. 
For his commitment, he has received numerous honours, including an MBE for services for disabled people.
