How to create a mentally healthy workplace

Learn how well-trained managers and informed teams can play a powerful role in fostering mental wellbeing and sustaining good mental health in your workplace.

The post-recession legacy of ‘do more with less’ has left us working to tighter deadlines, tougher targets and has sometimes created a sense of being overwhelmed or out of control. As a manager, how you support your team in this environment, to sustain both their performance and wellbeing, is now a critical differentiator of success.

Work can trigger or compound mental illness but this webinar will explain how steps such as increasing mental health awareness, introducing brain-friendly working practices and having well-trained managers who know how to identify, manage and support an employee with mental illness can have a powerful impact.

Evidence shows that employees who feel able to talk about early symptoms of mental ill health are less likely to develop further illness, and therefore take time off work. It is estimated that one in six employees experience depression, anxiety or stress at any one time. However, despite the increased attention on mental health and our understanding of its impact on absenteeism, a recent study found that over 27% of employees would still be reluctant to speak out because of the stigma attached to disclosing mental illness, and 36% said that they would be afraid of what their colleagues would say.
