Simon is Chair of the Grant Thornton Governance Institute.
He is the instigator and author of the FTSE 350 Corporate Governance Review, the UK's leading research document into the UK's Code of Corporate Governance and a frequent presenter on governance trends and developments. He is a Fellow of the ICAEW, a large listed audit partner, founder of Grant Thornton Business Risk Services practices specialising in internal audit, risk management and control and a former member of the Firm’s partnership oversight board.
Simon was a member of the FRC's steering group responsible for the Guidance for Effective Boards and the author of the Are They Experienced research commissioned by the FRC which looked at the experience of Non-Executive Directors following the financial crisis.
Henry Grunfeld Professor of Banking, Dean
Peter joined The London Institute of Banking & Finance in 2016 as the Henry Grunfeld Professor of Banking and Dean. From 2009-2014, he was Senior/Special Advisor to bank supervision at the Financial Services Authority and the Bank of England.
He was Citi’s Senior Corporate Finance Officer for the UK where he was also a Managing Director and member of the bank’s London based operating committee.
Peter has a BA from Drew University, an MBA from New York University (US), a PhD from City University London (Cass) and is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (teaching) and past Senior Fellow of the Foundation for Management Education; he completed a Post Graduate Teaching Certificate, and the International Business Schools Teaching Programme at SDA Bocconi business school in Italy. He was a member of the faculty at Cass Business School 2007-2016.
