What do you do now?

I am a Therapist and Coach specialising in supporting neurodivergent minds. I am also Head of Training at Headstuff ADHD Therapy LTD.

Where did your career start?

My career started with the Local Authority Housing department. I fell in love with Housing and the law that governed it. It felt like a sector that could make a difference to people and created a deep value base within me that high-quality, safe housing is the foundation for people to thrive. I quickly moved into a leadership role, and for 23 years I have never stopped learning and developing my craft.

Has there been a stage in your life where you first appreciated what great leadership looked like?

I can vividly remember the first time I saw great Leadership in action. It was an inspiring woman called Molly; she was the Director of Service in the company where I started my first Management role. She had a presence, a vision we all believed in and bags of integrity. She wasn’t polished, or corporate which was also part of what made her stand out. It was pure talent, knowledge and integrity that drove Molly.

Do you have any examples of what you have done to develop yourself as a leader?

I don’t have any ego about the level of leadership, and Management I take. For me, it’s all about the challenge and benefit I can bring to the role. As a result, I have enjoyed a career in Senior Leadership positions as well as back-leading front-line services. I believe that Senior leaders must never forget the challenges and experience of working on the front line as it reminds you what you are doing this all for. Leaders can become stale and out of touch with the nuts and bolts of their business when they are distanced from the grassroots.

How do you think Leadership has benefitted you?

Leadership is a place where my soul sets on fire. I love nothing more than getting talent together to create great things; nurturing, challenging, and serving the people I’m leading.
