The IoL has partnered with Northumbria University to support Masters students from underrepresented backgrounds.

This partnership provides financial support for scholarships, as well as tools to aid a number of business, leadership and management courses across Northumbria’s campuses in Newcastle. In addition, The Institute intends to contribute to student and alumni leadership conferences to the Northumbria London campus.

The collaboration will also explore the possibility of Fellowship programmes with The IoL – exclusively for academics and students at Northumbria. Fellowship may help students and alumni to boost their CVs and boost recognition within the industry by demonstrating their expertise in leadership.

John Mark Williams, the Chief Executive Officer for The IoL and a MBA graduate from Northumbria’s Newcastle Business School, said: “This is an exciting and important opportunity to further strengthen our links to education and to support the growing need for invaluable leadership development within the sector. The Institute is looking forward to a productive relationship with Northumbria University and positive outcomes for all parties over the course of our agreement”.

Dr Guy Brown, Dean of Students and Director of Northumbria’s London campus, added: “As a leading provider of leadership and management education in the UK we are delighted to be working in partnership with The Institute across our campuses, and to offer these postgraduate and career enhancement opportunities to students who may otherwise miss out. I am also looking forward to deepening the relationship further through additional collaborative projects and seek to support The Institute’s work to promote innovation in leadership - making learning accessible to all.

“I am also delighted to welcome The Institute and alumnus John-Mark Williams as a new supporter of Northumbria. I look forward to developing the suite of opportunities earmarked for staff and students."

The Institute hopes that this partnership will open up new opportunities for underrepresented young talent, and will inspire the future generation of leaders, whilst allowing them to continue to develop their leadership capabilities.
